Getting Noticed

June 19th, 2008

The everlasting task of increasing the buzz on Junk MD+ led us to the La Jolla Town Council Meeting on June 12th. On that sunny day, the crew headed over to the Rec. Center for the 5:00 meeting with our Neil Carpenter Beautification award, as requested. I had never been to a town council meeting before and it was actually pretty interesting. There is a strict policy everyone follows and it is incredibly organized. The President provided schedules for everyone, so we knew what to expect. Important issues were discussed in a mature manner, and we were educated on the current issues in La Jolla.

Unfortunately Junk MD+ wasn’t scheduled until the end, and we just couldn’t be away from work for that long. So our dear friend, who is in charge of the Beautification sector, was accommodating enough to bump us up so we could be part of her time.

After learning about budgets, where money was being spent, construction and upcoming events, it was nearing Junk MD+’s time to shine. There were motions to vote, motions seconded and decisions made. Finally it was our turn.

Our friend gave us a gracious introduction, and recapped all the work we had dedicated to beautifying La Jolla. The intro was hard to follow, but Bridget did a great job. We assured the council that Junk MD+ would donate just as much time and energy to La Jolla and other clean ups in 2008! We plan on volunteering at beach and inland cleanups, making the truck available for dump runs and donating biodegradable trash bags for the events.

We will soon be posting a schedule for all of the San Diego clean ups, we hope you can make some!

Junk MD+ is BACK!

June 5th, 2008

Junk MD+ here, again. Well I guess for the first time on the blog, but we have been up and running for some time now. Just popping in to say hi, sorry it took us so long to hop on the blog wagon, but we’re gonna be riding on it for good now.So the latest and greatest at Junk MD+, is we got some new people managing the joint. Bridget and Kendra are the voices of Junk MD+ and make sure stuff gets done. And Billy and Drew are the faces. Now that Spring is here and Summer, quickly approaching, we are getting busy and loving it! If you have any junk, waste, construction debris, old furniture or appliances, we are the people to call. You’ve probably already seen on our website, JunkMD.com that we recycle all objects that can be, donate others that are in good shape and donate 10% of each job to 1 of 5 charities. To learn more about the charities check out the website. We plan on having fun stories, junk updates, and info on events going on in the area on future posts. So keep checking back to be entertained by our stories, and post any comments. We look forward to blogging with you later!
